I am LOVING all the ideas I'm getting from following all of you tremendous bloggers. All of these new ideas, sharing, and inspiration have me so excited to get back to school. I spent the weekend ordering supplies for my classroom remodel (inspired by all the FANTASTIC classroom pics I've seen lately). I'm going with a turquoise and black and white polka dot theme. It's made me so happy I don't even think my husband is upset with the money I'm spending ;) ... but wait until he has to help me set it all up. I don't go back until September, but I'll post pics when I do get it all set up. I am sooooo jealous of the sheer size of some of your classrooms - mine is so tiny! I guess the upside of that is that it will cost less to remodel it all.
My inspiration this morning came from this picture I saw on pinterest. I followed the pin back to Simply 2nd Resouces (which I already follow, but must have missed this idea). Mrs. Morris has set up the most fantastic math journal (it's just a template for now), using foldables from Dinah Zike. Now, I had never heard of Dinah Zike, but was completely intrigued (math journals are something I start every year, but they never go completely how I envision). So, I did a little google digging, and you can find so many of her ideas online. I'm totally going to use this for my math journals this year. So excited !!!
Another blog I follow has posted a few flash mob videos - I LOVE flash mobs - I so want to be in one!!! But for now, I get my inspiration watching them online. The videos reminded me of a project one of our district's high schools came up with two years ago. It's not quite a flash mob ... but the idea is the same. They took on this project at the beginning of the year to inspire school spirit before the start of football season. I thought it was AWESOME, and showed it to my own class so many (probably too many) times.
My last inspiration for the day is from last night. We had a sunset picnic on the shores of Lake Superior. Sooooo beautiful!!! There is so much inspiration out there ... I just had to get off the computer for the reminder inspiration comes in so many forms.
Happy Monday!
