Graduation-Theme Attendance and a Quick Getaway
For those of you still in school (or those of you thinking ahead), I posted a FREE Graduation-Theme Attendance file at my TeacherspayTeachers Store over the weekend. Students pull the graduation cap onto the smiley face with their name on it. I actually created the file for our little reading buddies who will be graduating from Senior Kindergarten at the end of the year. I'm one of only two classrooms with a SMARTboard in my school, and our little buddies LOVE using the SMARTboard when they come to our room. On another note, I just got back from a much-too-quick trip to Toronto with my husband. Last night we were at a gala where he received an important award from his company. Although it's such a busy time at school right now, and always a busy time at home, it was sooooo nice to get away for an evening with him (thanks for taking the girls, mom and dad). Congratulations, Jay - so very proud of you!
Always the teacher though, I used my time on the plane to get some marking done and start a new book. I finished up the Daily 5 and The Cafe Book over the weekend, and my mind is already spinning with new ideas for next year. On our flight home this morning I started Lisa Donahue's Independent Reading: Inside the Box. I'm not too far into the book yet, but I'm intrigued already. So far, it looks like a perfect fit to my independent reading program. I really like that it focuses on the reading comprehension strategies, which are a big part of my language program. The tasks are easy enough to keep my students working independently while I'm conferencing with individual students, yet complex enough to get them thinking critically about their books and keep them accountable for their reading. Stay tuned - I'll let you know more when I finish the book.
Lastly, don't forget about our Super Summer Giveaway where you could win $100.00 worth of products from TeacherspayTeachers authors (myself included). See my post below for more information. I've already entered the contest - have you???
