Congratulations! A message has been sent to you.
There are some days where I look up at the clock and realize my husband is going to be home from work really soon. I like to have dinner ready to eat when he gets home, or at least close to being finished. On days like these where time has gotten ahead of me it helps to have a recipe to go to that doesn't take much time at all. I added this 5-Minute Mac and Cheese to that list of recipes last night after testing it out on my little family. My two year old loved it! And so did my husband so I we were all happy.
I like this dish because it can be used as an entree or as a side. Next time I will add ham or broccoli to give it a little extra something. Either that or I'll put it in a baking dish, crush something crunchy like corn flakes or something on the top, and bake it. That extra crunch would be yummy. But by itself this recipe is super yummy and my family loved it. We'll be making it again in the near future!
5-Minute Mac and Cheese
Picky Palate
makes 4 servings
- 1/2 lb. pasta, your choice cooked (I used penne this time around. It ends up being half of a standard box.)
- 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 c. milk (Whole milk works the best but whatever you have will work just fine. I used 1% this time around.)
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
Place the pasta in a microwave safe bowl and pour that cheese right over it.
Then pour the milk right over the cheese.
Next add the salt and pepper.
Give everything a nice stir. Now it's time for the 5-minute part!
Lightly cover the bowl in plastic wrap and place it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Take it out, stir it, then place back in the microwave for another 2 minutes.
Stir it again till it's nice and creamy. Yum!
Serve immediately to enjoy all of that cheesy, creamy goodness.
