The Winners Are ...

Thank-you to all who entered my Reading Comprehension Strategies Giveaway.  I had a total of 35 comments.  I plan to take all these comments and create a one-page resource containing ideas for teaching the comprehension strategies - stay tuned!  I had originally planned to give away one copy of this resource, but I've been feeling generous lately, so I changed my mind.
I used the random number generator to pick the winners ... drum roll please ...

  • First Winner - Comment #2 - Samantha - She said, "I am a follower! This year I am pursuing my master's degree in education through Nova's BrainSMART program. I will have a major in brain-based teaching with a concentration in reading and literacy. I have learned tons about the brain and reading! Which led me to Tanny McGregor's Comprehension Connections. I taught her lesson a on inferring using garbage. The student had to make assumptions about my neighbor's based on the garbage. It was an amazing lesson, the comments, questions, and deep thinking was awesome from my first graders! It is a must have book for any teacher!"
  • Second Winner - Comment #22 - Mrs. Hemphill's Online Classroom - She said, "I'm a follower! I actually adore using the book, "Walk Two Moons," by Sharon Creech. We use the prediction and inferencing strategies with the Middle School students. The kiddos love the text and remember the strategies."
What fabulous ideas!!!  I also love Walk Two Moons - I had done it as a read aloud many, many times.  And it makes me cry every single time!

Ladies, I'll email you in the next few minutes.  Congratulations!  I hope you enjoy this resource and find it as valuable as I do.
