Summer Drinks and Mocktails

I don’t know about you, but I love a good summer drink. Today I bring you five delicious and refreshing options for your family to enjoy this summer. With all that fresh fruit available to us, why not do something different with it? Your family is sure to love these different and fun drinks!

Two of the drinks listed below are originally drinks with alcohol in them. But I’ve found a website that gives the ingredients to make them non-alcoholic so the whole family can enjoy them. Those drinks are called mocktails”.

1. Watermelon Slush

Ingredients (for 2 drinks)

  • 8 c. seedless watermelon, cube
  • 1/4 c. lime juice
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. diet sprite or 7-Up

Directions

  1. In a blender or food processer, cover and blend the watermelon, lime juice, and sugar in batches until smooth. Pour into a freezer-proof container.
  2. Cover and freeze for 30 minutes or until the edges begin to freeze. Stir and return to freezer. Repeat every 20 minutes or until slushy, about 90 minutes.
  3. Spoon 3/4 cup into glasses. Add 1/4 cup soda.

 

2. Mango Lassi

Ingredients (for 2 drinks)

  • 1/4 c. plain low-fat yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. fresh mango pulp (canned or frozen mango bay be substituted)
  • 1/3 c. cold water
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. honey or sugar (depending on how sweet you want it)
  • 10 ice cubes

Directions

  1. If using a fresh mango, peel and remove the flesh from the pit; cut mango into small pieces.
  2. In a blender, add yogurt, lemon juice, mango pulp, water, and honey or sugar. Blend approximately 2 to 3 minutes or until you see a little forming in the mixture.
  3. Add the ice and blend until frothy. NOTE: You can also pour the mango mixture over ice cubes instead of blending the ice cubes in the drink.

 

3. Pink Shampagne {non-alcoholic mocktail}

Ingredients (for 2 drinks)

  • 1 1/2 c. sparkling apple cider
  • 1 1/2 c. sparkling cherry-flavored mineral water (or club soda mixed with cherry flavoring syrup)
  • 1 c. cranberry juice

Stir all ingredients until thoroughly mixed. And that’s it!

 

4. Watermelon Lemonade

Ingredients for (2 drinks)

  • 6 c. seedless watermelon, cubed
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. lemon juice
  • ice

Directions

  1. Combine watermelon and water in a blender and blend. Pour through a liquid strainer into a cup.
  2. Combine with sugar and lemon juice. Pour over glasses full of ice.

 

5. Raspberry Fizz {non-alcoholic mocktail}

Ingredients (for one drink)

  • 3/4 c. raspberry juice
  • 1/4 c. soda water
  • 2 scoops raspberry sherbet

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.
