This is the way dinner goes at our house during weekdays:
Since I don't get home till 7 from work, the babysitter feeds the kids. I hate not having family dinner but at this stage in life, eating at 7 is late for Max and Sabrina (they are ready to crash by 8). Once they're out, I am typically too zonked to cook/not in the mood/hopeless about cooking. Sometimes Dave will get takeout, or we'll microwave frozen dinners or something similarly lame.
Getting delivered meals is bliss. I've seen the Schwan's trucks in our 'hood, and have always wondered what the food is like. Recently, I got to try their baked ziti, 5-cheese garlic bread, broccoli florets and chocolate ice-cream.
Coming home to find dinner waiting for you on the front porch is a happy sight. We had ourselves a mid-week feast! The 24-ounce ziti says it serves 2, but it's actually plenty for two hungry kids, one adult, and one spouse on an anti-carb plan (Dave, not me). The ziti tasted delicious and homemade. The garlic bread was good and plentiful (there were 6 gigantic pieces), and the broccoli was the most fresh-tasting frozen broccoli I've ever tried; it had olive oil and a bit of Parmesan. Max rated the chocolate ice-cream excellent, and he is a chocolate ice-cream connoisseur.
